Children's privacyStudyLumen Children's Privacy Notice
This notice applies when a supervised user is a child or other minor. It explains the information handled when a parent or legal guardian uses StudyLumen to supervise that user's Android device.
Last updated June 1, 2026
Guardian-managed supervision
StudyLumen is an all-ages supervised-device service. When the supervised user is a minor, a parent or legal guardian age 18 or older must create the account, create the supervised profile, select the supervision settings, and enroll the supervised device. The child does not create a StudyLumen account.
Child information handled
- A parent-created supervised-profile display name or nickname, schedule timezone, and intended device-platform selection.
- Supervised-device enrollment metadata, enforcement mode, device-timezone telemetry, device-token hash, and raw push-delivery token needed to send sync messages.
- A launcher-visible installed-app snapshot so the parent can choose apps for supervised routines.
- Parent-created routines, app allow lists, domain allow lists, and website-filter settings.
- Guardian-visible access requests for an app or domain, including the requested duration and parent decision.
- Health, setup, heartbeat, and tamper-status information needed to show whether supervision is operating correctly.
- For shared family phones, lending-mode status, selected profile, and session-expiry information.
- Crash and error diagnostics used to maintain the service.
What is processed on the device
- Foreground-app signals are evaluated locally to apply app blocking. StudyLumen does not upload a raw app-usage history.
- Website filtering runs locally through the Android VPN. StudyLumen does not upload bulk browsing history. Allowed DNS queries still go to DNS resolvers as part of normal name resolution. A domain may be sent to StudyLumen when the child asks the parent to allow that specific site.
- The notification-listener service supports media-session pausing and does not read or store notification content.
How child information is used
- Apply the parent's supervision settings.
- Let the parent choose allowed apps and websites.
- Send guardian-visible access requests and supervision alerts.
- Diagnose setup, reliability, and security problems.
No ads, sale, or public profile
StudyLumen does not use child information for advertising or retargeting, does not sell child personal information, and does not create a public child profile. The StudyLumen Child app does not include an advertising SDK and strips advertising-ID permissions.
Service providers
StudyLumen uses Google Firebase and Google Cloud to operate the backend, send push messages, and verify app integrity. It uses Sentry for crash and error diagnostics. Allowed DNS queries are resolved by the device's configured DNS resolver, with public fallback resolvers used if needed.
Parent choices
A parent can request access to, correction of, or deletion of a child's information, and can ask StudyLumen to stop further collection. Contact support@studylumen.com or use the account-deletion instructions.
